The allegation of extortion against Former Senator, Shehu Sani by the anti-graft agency (EFCC) has generated reactions from Nigerians nationwide.
Recall that Sani was accused by the anti-graft agency for collecting money from Sani Dauda, owner of ASD Motors.
The allegation report revealed that the Former Senator promised to pass the money to the acting chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, to influence an investigation, and also allegedly asking for more money to bribe the chief justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko and some other judges to influence the outcome of a court case.
The crossfire between EFCC and Shehu has generated mixed feelings from Nigerians who took to their respective social media handles to express their concern.
According to a Facebook user, Temitope Balogun, he accused the anti-graft agency of doing everything within their capacity to shun criticism from influential citizens, citing the example of illegal detention of the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore.
“I think Shehu is innocent, it’s so obvious that Buhari and his cohort, EFCC, are doing everything within their capacity to shun criticism from influential Nigerians. Sowore’s case is a vivid example” he said.
While reacting to the ongoing allegation, one Ajoke Olatunji on Instagram decries the thriving state of false allegations in the country from law enforcement agencies without the provision evidence to back up their claims.
“So pitiful how we got to this stage, law enforcement agencies are now disobedient to court orders, their allegations are baseless and it lacks evidence” she said.
However, the accused Former Senator, Shehu Sani, in his response to the allegation says the allegations of ‘extortion’ against me is baseless, fact-less, unfounded, hollow and unsubstantial.
